Jaishankar Meets Afghan Minister in New Delhi, Reaffirms India’s Support for Afghan People

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Monday announced that he met Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi, Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, in the capital to discuss avenues for deepening bilateral cooperation.

Sharing the update on social media, Jaishankar wrote, “Pleased to meet Industry and Commerce Minister of Afghanistan, Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi in New Delhi this evening. Discussed ways to strengthen our trade, connectivity and people to people ties. Reiterated India’s support for the development and welfare of the people of Afghanistan.”

The meeting focused on strengthening regional trade, improving connectivity routes, and enhancing humanitarian engagement. India has consistently maintained that its priority remains the well-being of the Afghan people, even as the political landscape in the country continues to evolve.

The discussion underscores India’s continued outreach toward Afghanistan, particularly in areas of economic cooperation, development partnerships, and grassroots welfare initiatives.
