New Delhi: The government is intensifying efforts to empower minority youth through targeted skill development programmes, aiming to enhance employability and create sustainable livelihood opportunities.

A key initiative in this direction is the Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) scheme, under which training is being provided in emerging and industry-relevant fields. As part of this programme, the Ministry of Minority Affairs has partnered with institutions like IIT Patna to train minority youth in advanced domains such as artificial intelligence and business analytics.

The initiative focuses on bridging the skill gap by equipping participants with modern, technology-driven competencies, enabling them to compete in a rapidly evolving job market. It also aims to improve employment prospects and encourage entrepreneurship among minority communities.

These efforts are aligned with broader national programmes like Skill India Mission, which seeks to build a skilled and self-reliant workforce by offering vocational training, upskilling, and certification across sectors.

Under flagship schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, millions of youth have already received training through short-term courses and recognition of prior learning, helping them secure jobs or start their own ventures.

Officials emphasise that the focus on minority youth is crucial for inclusive growth, ensuring that underrepresented communities benefit from India’s expanding economic opportunities. The initiatives also promote digital skills, entrepreneurship, and industry linkages to make training more outcome-oriented.

With continued policy support and partnerships between government, academia, and industry, these programmes are expected to play a vital role in empowering minority youth and strengthening the country’s workforce for the future.
