Delhi | Govt Reviewing Night Shelter Systems After Coolie Camp Tragedy: Minister Ashish Sood

Delhi minister Ashish Sood stated that the government is actively working to strengthen the infrastructure and management of night shelters across the city, following the tragic incident at Coolie Camp. He confirmed that new tenders are already in progress to establish a more efficient, reliable, and safer system for vulnerable populations.

Sood noted that MLA Anil Sharma had been present at the site since last night, offering support and consoling the grieving families affected by the incident. He added that Delhi Chief Minister had directed him to personally visit the location, inspect the arrangements, and investigate the reasons behind the mishap.

“The government is reviewing the provisions for providing adequate assistance to those who lost their lives. We will provide them with adequate assistance,” he assured.

Authorities are currently examining existing protocols and exploring enhancements to ensure that night shelters remain safe and well-managed, especially during peak winter months when demand surges. The government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the homeless and vulnerable communities across Delhi.
