Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Condemns Derogatory Remarks Against PM Modi and His Mother

Reacting strongly to a viral video purportedly showing derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother at an INDIA bloc event in Darbhanga, Bihar, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday condemned the behaviour of opposition leaders, calling it “very shameful.”

Gupta said that insulting any mother on the sacred land of Sita Ma is intolerable and amounts to an insult to Indian values. “The people of the country reject such cheap thinking and cheap politics of speaking ill of the mother of the Prime Minister of the country,” she asserted.

Expressing her anguish as a woman, the Delhi CM remarked, “Only those people can insult a mother who neither know the respect of Mother Earth, Mother India, nor the word mother. Were such people brought up in the country or somewhere else? This is a question mark on their upbringing.”

The Chief Minister’s statement reflects the BJP’s broader criticism of the opposition, accusing it of lowering the standards of political discourse through personal attacks rather than engaging in constructive debates on national issues.

The controversy has sparked widespread outrage among BJP leaders and supporters, who have demanded an apology from the INDIA bloc for the offensive remarks. Party leaders say that politics must remain within the bounds of dignity and respect, especially when it comes to family members of national leaders.

The remarks from Darbhanga have now escalated into a fresh flashpoint in the ongoing war of words between the BJP and the opposition ahead of upcoming elections.
