In a sharp rebuttal to Trinamool Congress (TMC) National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee's recent remarks regarding central agencies, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has shed light on the alleged recruitment scam and defended the actions of the investigating authorities.

Puri, a prominent figure in the Union Cabinet, addressed the controversy during a press interaction in Delhi, providing detailed insights into the nature of the recruitment fraud. He underscored the necessity for central agencies to intervene in the wake of serious allegations concerning irregularities in the recruitment process.

According to Puri's account, the recruitment scam primarily involved malpractices in teacher appointments, where merit-based selections were purportedly subverted for monetary gains. He illustrated the alleged modus operandi, citing an example where candidates who secured lower positions in the merit list managed to secure appointments through illicit means, sidelining more deserving applicants.

"In instances where there were 500 applicants for a particular position," Puri elucidated, "a merit list was formulated based on academic credentials and performance. However, certain unscrupulous individuals, despite securing lower ranks in the merit order, managed to secure positions through illicit means, bypassing candidates who rightfully deserved the appointments."

The Union Minister's remarks shed light on the sequence of events that unfolded following the exposure of the alleged scam. He detailed how aggrieved candidates, who were sidelined despite meritorious performances, resorted to legal recourse by filing FIRs and approaching the judiciary for redressal.

Puri emphasized the role of the judiciary in ensuring accountability and transparency in such cases, highlighting how court directives played a pivotal role in uncovering the truth and addressing the grievances of affected candidates.

The Union Minister's response comes in the midst of escalating political tensions, with the TMC leadership leveling accusations against central agencies and alleging political vendetta. Puri's comprehensive explanation seeks to provide clarity on the underlying issues and rebut allegations of partisan motives in the investigative process.

As the controversy continues to unfold, Puri's statements add a new dimension to the discourse surrounding accountability in recruitment processes and the role of central agencies in upholding integrity and meritocracy in public appointments.
