Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, is set to chair the 7th Apex Level Meeting of the Narco-Coordination Center (NCORD) on Thursday, 18th July in Delhi. This meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening India's efforts in combating narcotics trafficking and enhancing coordination among various law enforcement agencies.

The Narco-Coordination Center (NCORD) serves as a crucial platform for coordinating actions and strategies among multiple agencies involved in narcotics control across the country. The upcoming meeting under Shah's leadership is expected to focus on reviewing current initiatives, identifying challenges, and formulating effective strategies to curb the drug menace in India.

In addition to chairing the NCORD meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate two key initiatives aimed at bolstering the nation's narcotics control efforts. Firstly, he will launch the National Narcotics Helpline 'MANAS' (Madak Padarth Nisedh Asuchna Kendra), which aims to provide support and guidance to individuals affected by drug abuse and their families. This helpline is expected to play a pivotal role in raising awareness about substance abuse and facilitating access to rehabilitation services.

Secondly, Amit Shah will inaugurate the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Office in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. The establishment of this zonal office is aimed at enhancing the NCB's operational capabilities in the region, strengthening intelligence gathering, and improving coordination with local law enforcement agencies to effectively tackle narcotics trafficking activities in the sensitive border state.

The initiatives to be launched and inaugurated by Amit Shah underscore the government's commitment to combating the drug menace comprehensively. By leveraging technology and enhancing operational infrastructure, these initiatives aim to disrupt drug trafficking networks, safeguard communities, and support individuals affected by substance abuse.

The 7th Apex Level Meeting of NCORD and the inauguration of the National Narcotics Helpline 'MANAS' and the NCB Zonal Office in Srinagar are expected to set a renewed momentum in India's efforts towards a drug-free society. The Ministry of Home Affairs anticipates that these initiatives will contribute significantly to achieving national security objectives and promoting public health and well-being across the country.
