Union Finance Minister Comments on AAP MP Swati Maliwal ‘Assault’ Case

In a recent development, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made a statement regarding the alleged assault case involving Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Parliament, Swati Maliwal. Sitharaman, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has raised questions about the delay in filing a police complaint by Maliwal.

“The fact that Swati Maliwal did not register a complaint in Police for 3-4 days (after the incident) means that there was pressure on her from high-level,” Sitharaman said. She further added, “There is reason to believe that there was enough pressure on her and probably continues on her.”

The Union Finance Minister’s comments have stirred up a new controversy in the already heated political environment surrounding the case. The delay in filing the complaint has been a point of contention, with critics arguing that it raises questions about the credibility of the allegations.

However, supporters of Maliwal argue that the delay could be attributed to the pressure and intimidation faced by the MP in the aftermath of the incident. They contend that such pressures are not uncommon in cases involving high-profile individuals.

As the case continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how these latest comments from the Union Finance Minister will impact the ongoing investigation and the public perception of the incident. The authorities are yet to respond to Sitharaman’s comments.
