Delhi - The political landscape of India witnessed a significant shift as Congress MP Rahul Gandhi announced his candidature from Raebareli, a move that has sparked a heated debate among political circles.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla responded to the announcement with a pointed critique. He stated, “‘Daro mat kahate kahate Rahul Gandhi, Amethi se lado mat’. This has become the new slogan of the Congress party.”

Poonawalla’s statement translates to “Keep saying ‘don’t be afraid’ Rahul Gandhi, but don’t fight from Amethi.” This remark is a clear jab at the Congress party’s decision to shift their stronghold from Amethi to Raebareli.

“Today, with this announcement, Congress has confirmed that not a single member of the First family can contest in what they used to call the pocket boroughs of Amethi,” Poonawalla added. This statement underscores the BJP’s claim that the Congress party’s influence in Amethi has significantly diminished over the years.

Poonawalla further compared the work done by Rahul Gandhi in the last 50 years to the achievements of Smriti Irani, under the leadership of PM Modi and CM Yogi, in the last 5 years. He stated, “In the last 50 years, Rahul Gandhi has not done much as in the last 5 years Smriti Irani under the leadership of PM Modi and CM Yogi has delivered.”

The BJP spokesperson concluded his statement by highlighting the Congress party’s shifting political base. “First Amethi rejected them, and they went to Wayanad, now Wayanad rejected them and hence they came to Raebareli,” he said.

This development marks a significant shift in the political dynamics of the Congress party and is expected to have far-reaching implications in the upcoming elections.
