Political Tensions Rise: BJP’s Bansuri Swaraj and AAP’s Atishi Summoned in Defamation Case

In a recent development in the political landscape of New Delhi, BJP leader and candidate from the New Delhi constituency, Bansuri Swaraj, has made a statement against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She accused the AAP of having an old habit of “shoot and scoot”, referring to their tendency to level false allegations without considering the consequences.

Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of the late Sushma Swaraj, is contesting the Lok Sabha polls from the New Delhi seat on a BJP ticket. She has been in the news for her strong rebuttals against the AAP’s allegations.

Allegations and Counter-Allegations

Earlier this year, Atishi, who serves as the Delhi finance minister, claimed that she was offered membership in the BJP to safeguard her political career, with the implication of potential arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) if she declined. This claim has been strongly refuted by Bansuri Swaraj.

In response to Atishi’s allegations, Bansuri Swaraj stated, “AAP has an old habit of shoot and scoot. They keep leveling false allegations and think that there will be no consequences.”. She further added that Atishi will now have to give clarification on her tweet dated 27th January 2024 and allegations leveled at BJP during a press conference on 2nd April.

The Court Summons

The ACMM Rouse Avenue has summoned Atishi on June 29 in the defamation case. The case has been filed by BJP’s Delhi media head Praveen Shankar Kapoor over allegations of ‘poaching’ AAP legislators. Atishi will now have to appear before the court to present her side.

The Road Ahead

As the political tensions continue to rise, it remains to be seen how this case will unfold and what impact it will have on the political dynamics of the New Delhi constituency. The upcoming court hearing on June 29 will be a significant event in this ongoing political saga.
