In a recent press conference, the Prime Minister addressed the opposition’s allegations that the BJP is in control of all institutions and that there is no level playing field. The PM retorted with a popular saying, “Naach na jaane aangan tedha,” implying that those who cannot dance blame the stage. He suggested that the opposition is already making excuses for their potential defeat in the upcoming elections, particularly targeting the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

The PM further stated, “If the Election Commission is formed today, then the opposition is also in it.” He pointed out that in the past, the Prime Minister used to sign a file and form the Election Commission. Those who were close to their families, such people became election commissioners. Some of them even became members of the Rajya Sabha or ministers of their government after leaving the commission. He highlighted instances where election commissioners were chosen who later became Congress candidates.

The PM emphasized that his party cannot play at that level and does not aspire to become like this. “We want to go on the right path, we don’t want to go on the wrong path,” he added.

Lastly, he addressed the formation of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He reiterated the saying—Naach na jaan aangan tedha—implying that the opposition might make excuses about these institutions as well. He concluded by stating that the opposition has already started setting some reasoning for their defeat.
