Delhi, India - In a recent address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the importance of shared resilience and the need to support the most vulnerable, particularly small island developing states that are at high risk of disasters.

“To achieve shared resilience, we must support the most vulnerable,” said PM Modi. He highlighted the efforts of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI), which is funding projects across 13 such places.

Among the initiatives funded by the CDRI are resilient housing in Dominica, a resilient transport network in Papua New Guinea, and enhanced early warning systems in the Dominican Republic and Fiji. These projects aim to bolster the infrastructure of these vulnerable regions and improve their ability to withstand and recover from disasters.

PM Modi’s remarks underscore India’s commitment to global cooperation and shared resilience in the face of increasing climate-related disasters. His call to action serves as a reminder of the urgent need to support vulnerable regions and work towards a more resilient future.

The CDRI’s work in these small island developing states is a testament to the potential of international cooperation in building disaster-resilient infrastructure. As these projects continue to unfold, they will undoubtedly serve as valuable models for similar initiatives worldwide.

As PM Modi concluded, “Our collective resilience depends on supporting the most vulnerable. Together, we can build a more resilient world.”
