Delhi, India - In a recent public address, BJP National President JP Nadda lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s contributions to Punjab and the Sikh community. He highlighted PM Modi’s long-standing association with Punjab and his significant role in facilitating global donations to the Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple.

“Many people don’t know this, but he (PM Narendra Modi) was the Punjab in-charge for a long time. He has been to every city and every district of the state,” Nadda said, emphasizing PM Modi’s deep understanding of the region and its people.

Nadda also brought attention to the long-standing issue of FCRA registration for the Harmandir Sahib. “We have said for a long time that FCRA registration for the Harmandir Sahib should be done because many people across the world want to donate money. But it was never done and people could not contribute to it in ways they wanted to,” he explained.

The BJP National President praised PM Modi for resolving this issue, stating, “The previous Prime Ministers could not do this for the Sikh community what PM Narendra Modi has done, and now people across the world can donate to the Harmandir Sahib.”

In addition, Nadda highlighted the government’s decision to make the langar served in the gurdwara tax-free. “When it came to imposing GST on langar served in the gurdwara, our government decided it would pay the GST but the langar will be tax-free,” he said.

These remarks underscore the BJP’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the Sikh community and their appreciation for PM Modi’s efforts in this regard. The party believes these initiatives will strengthen their relationship with the Sikh community and enhance their support base in Punjab.
