Manjinder Singh Sirsa Condemns Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks, Seeks Action from Lok Sabha Speaker

Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Tuesday strongly condemned remarks attributed to Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi against a Sikh Union Minister, calling the language used “shameful” and deeply hurtful to the Sikh community. Sirsa alleged that referring to a Sikh Sardar as a “traitor” reflects an unacceptable mindset and demanded immediate action against Rahul Gandhi.

Addressing the media, Sirsa said that the use of such words against a Sikh minister was not only offensive but also an insult to the entire Sikh community. “The kind of words used by Rahul Gandhi against a Sikh Minister, calling a Sikh Sardar a ‘traitor’, I strongly condemn this. This is very shameful,” he said, asserting that Sikhs have a long and proud history of sacrifice for the nation and can never be labelled as traitors.

Sirsa further accused the Congress of continuing with what he described as an unchanged mindset towards Sikhs. He claimed that such statements reveal a lack of remorse and sensitivity. “Using such words for Sikhs shows that the Congress mindset has not changed even today,” he remarked.

Escalating his attack, the Delhi Minister referred to historical events involving the Congress leadership, alleging that it was the Gandhi family that bore responsibility for actions that deeply hurt Sikh sentiments. He cited the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib, damage to the Akal Takht Sahib, and the killing of innocent Sikhs, stating that these episodes remain painful memories for the community.

“We strongly condemn the sin you have committed, the insult you hurled at Sikhs, and the foul words you used,” Sirsa said, warning that such remarks would not be tolerated. He added that the dignity of Sikhs must be respected and protected in public discourse.

Sirsa also appealed to the Lok Sabha Speaker to take immediate cognisance of the matter. He urged that appropriate action be initiated against Rahul Gandhi for his remarks, stressing that Parliament must uphold respect, responsibility, and decorum, especially from leaders holding constitutional positions.

The controversy has added to the escalating political tensions between the ruling side and the Opposition, with the issue now likely to resonate both inside and outside Parliament.
