India recorded 97 deaths this week, with figures from a number of smaller states expected on Sunday. The last time the country had less than 100 COVID deaths in a week was on March 30-April 5, 2020, the week after total lockdown was imposed.

States can grant Hindus minority status if they are a minority in that state; Minority Welfare Schemes are not unconstitutional, according to the Centre.
