Delhi, India - At the Viksit Bharat 2047 program held at Hansraj College, External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar presented a new image of India - one that is both friendly and fair.

Dr. Jaishankar emphasized that the world now recognizes a significant shift in India’s approach to global challenges, particularly terrorism. “Today’s India deals with terrorism very differently from how it used to,” he stated. He drew a stark contrast between the Mumbai attacks and the more recent incidents in Uri and Balakote, highlighting India’s evolved response strategy.

The EAM also addressed the ongoing challenge at the China border. He commended the Indian troops for their firm stance and resilience, a sentiment echoed by international observers. “They look at these people (India) standing up and sending the troops. They are staying firm,” he said.

In the face of international pressure to refrain from purchasing oil from Russia, India stood its ground. Dr. Jaishankar asserted, “India said my interests require that I buy oil and I am not hiding it.” He praised India’s openness, honesty, and courage in making decisions based on its national interests.

The EAM’s remarks underscored a new perception of India on the global stage. “The sense today is that India is a firm country but it is also a fair country,” he concluded. This sentiment encapsulates the spirit of the new India - an India that is ready to face global challenges head-on while maintaining its commitment to fairness and justice.
