Former Congress Leader Rohan Gupta Criticizes INDIA Alliance Following BJP Joining

Rohan Gupta, the former Congress leader who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has spoken out against the INDIA Alliance, terming it an "unnatural alliance" and predicting a loss of trust among the people due to its perceived contradictions.

Gupta, who made headlines with his defection from the Congress to the BJP, didn't mince words as he criticized the alliance formed by the Congress party with other political entities. Speaking to the media, Gupta asserted that alliances are typically meant to convey a message about shared core values, but he argued that the INDIA Alliance appeared to ignore these values.

He particularly highlighted what he saw as contradictions between the alliance's purported commitment to the Constitution and its alleged disregard for principles such as nationalism and Sanatana (traditional Indian) values. Gupta accused the Congress of forming alliances with parties, such as leftist groups, which he claimed had historically been opposed to the interests of the nation.

Drawing attention to specific instances, Gupta pointed out the perceived inconsistency in the Congress's actions, including its criticism of leaders like Mehboba Mufti for alleged anti-national activities while simultaneously forming alliances with them. He also referenced the Congress's past accusations against Arvind Kejriwal regarding his associations with Khalistani elements, contrasting these accusations with the subsequent formation of an alliance with Kejriwal's party.

In Gupta's view, these contradictions represent a significant setback for the Congress party, labeling the INDIA Alliance as its "biggest disaster." He warned that such alliances could alienate the core voters of the Congress, further weakening the party's standing in the political landscape.

Gupta's remarks add fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding political alliances and ideological coherence within Indian politics. As the INDIA Alliance continues to evolve and expand, it faces scrutiny not only from political opponents but also from voices within its own erstwhile ranks, underscoring the complexities of coalition-building in a diverse and dynamic political environment.
