Delhi Landfill Crisis: BJP Chief Calls for Investigation and Action

Delhi, India - In a recent statement, Virendraa Sachdeva, the Delhi BJP chief, has voiced his concerns over the living conditions in Mayur Vihar and Kondli. He claims that the life of the people in these areas has become unbearable due to the presence of a landfill.

“I too live in Mayur Vihar, I understand this,” Sachdeva said, empathizing with the residents of the affected areas.

During the Municipal elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its chief, Arvind Kejriwal, had promised to remove the landfill by December 2023. However, Sachdeva alleges that corruption is at play, hindering the progress of this initiative.

“The game of corruption is being played here. The cause of the fire should be investigated…The causes are natural, there is corruption behind this. It should be investigated and action should be taken against the guilty,” Sachdeva demanded.

He further criticized the AAP, stating that the party is on “dialysis” and that half of the machines that should have been deployed at the landfill are not working. He questioned Kejriwal’s responsibility in this matter and the lack of decision-making in renewing tenders and forming the Standing Committee.

“Who is responsible? Will Arvind Kejriwal take responsibility? Tender is not being renewed. Standing Committee is not being formed. Decisions are not being taken. Who is responsible? Arvind Kejriwal,” Sachdeva questioned.

Sachdeva concluded his statement with a promise that if the BJP government is formed in Delhi, all three landfills in the city will be removed within a year.

This statement has sparked a new debate on the management of waste in the city and the political accountability of the same. As the city continues to grapple with the landfill crisis, the residents of Mayur Vihar and Kondli await effective solutions and the fulfilment of promises made to them.
