BJP’s “400 Paar” Goal: Aiming for Stability, Not Constitutional Change, Says Amit Shah

In a recent statement, Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the speculation surrounding BJP’s “400 paar” goal and its implications on the Constitution. He firmly stated that despite having the majority to change the Constitution for the last decade, the party has never attempted to do so.

“Definitely not. We have had the majority to change the Constitution for the last 10 years…We never did it…Bahumat ka durupayog ka itihas meri party ka nahi hai. Bahumat ke durupayog ka itihas Indira Gandhi ke samay mein Congress ne kiya tha…” said Shah, dismissing the rumors of any potential misuse of majority power by the BJP. He pointed out that history has seen such misuse during the tenure of Indira Gandhi and the Congress.

Shah clarified that the BJP’s aim for 400 seats is not to alter the Constitution, but to bring stability to the country’s politics and ensure the safety of its borders. He emphasized the party’s commitment to the nation and its people, stating, “…But yes, we want 400 seats because we want to bring stability to the politics of the country because we want to keep the country’s borders safe…”

Reflecting on the party’s utilization of its majority in the past decade, Shah highlighted several landmark decisions. “How did we utilise our seats in 10 years? In abrogating Article 370, scrapping Triple Talaq, building Ram Temple, bringing UCC…” he said, outlining the significant steps taken by the BJP towards national integration and social reform.

The BJP’s “400 paar” goal continues to be a topic of intense discussion and speculation. However, with Shah’s recent statements, it is clear that the party’s focus remains on national stability and progress, rather than constitutional amendments.
