Delhi: BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj on Friday strongly criticised the behaviour of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs in the Parliament, calling it “reprehensible” and an insult to democratic values.

Swaraj alleged that TMC MPs, particularly women members, tore and threw away copies of a bill inside the House, an act she said has “shamed democracy, the Constitution, and the Indian voter.”

“The indecency shown by TMC MPs in the House is reprehensible. Especially the women MPs of TMC, who tore and threw away the copies of the bill, which has shamed democracy. Today, they have shamed the Indian voter, the Indian Constitution, and Indian democracy. BJP strongly condemns this,” Swaraj said.

The incident has drawn sharp reactions from BJP members, who accused the TMC of lowering the dignity of Parliament and undermining democratic debate. The development comes amid heightened tensions between ruling and opposition benches over several legislative matters.

Political analysts note that such confrontations reflect the growing hostility in parliamentary proceedings, with disruptions and protests often overshadowing constructive debate.
