Union Minister Pralhad Joshi Criticizes Opposition's Disruption During PM Modi's Address in Lok Sabha

Tensions flared in the Lok Sabha today as Union Minister Pralhad Joshi condemned what he described as "childish behavior" by opposition members, particularly targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address. The incident marked the first debate of the 18th Lok Sabha session, with Joshi highlighting disruptions that prevented new MPs from fully engaging in the proceedings.

Addressing the media after the session, Joshi expressed disappointment over the disruptions that marred the Prime Minister's speech. "This was supposed to be a constructive debate where new MPs could hear from the Prime Minister, but the opposition's behavior, particularly by Rahul Gandhi, prevented this from happening," Joshi lamented.

Joshi accused the Congress party of extending beyond their allotted time during the debate, thereby restricting the opportunity for other MPs to participate. "Despite being given extra time, the Congress did not allow their own MP from Manipur to speak," Joshi claimed, citing the incident as a deliberate attempt to disrupt parliamentary norms.

"The opposition's actions disregard the mandate given by the people," Joshi asserted, criticizing what he perceived as a failure to respect the democratic process and the responsibilities of elected representatives.

During his address in the Lok Sabha earlier today, Prime Minister Modi faced continuous disruptions and slogan-shouting from opposition members, primarily from the Congress party. The disruptions occurred despite the Speaker's attempts to maintain order and allow for a structured debate.

The incident has sparked debate across political circles, with supporters of the government condemning what they view as an obstructionist approach by the opposition. Meanwhile, critics have pointed to the importance of parliamentary decorum and the need for constructive dialogue in legislative proceedings.

As India prepares for upcoming parliamentary sessions, the incident serves as a reminder of the challenges in maintaining civility and decorum within the august chambers of the Lok Sabha. The government's stance, as articulated by Minister Pralhad Joshi, underscores its commitment to upholding democratic values and ensuring a conducive environment for meaningful legislative debate.

The opposition's response to these accusations is anticipated in the coming days, setting the stage for continued political discourse and engagement on critical national issues.
