Title: Union Minister Alleges Unlawful Acquisition of Land by Karnataka CM's Wife

New Delhi: Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje has ignited a political firestorm by accusing Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi Siddaramaiah, of illegally acquiring 14 sites from the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

In a detailed statement, Minister Karandlaje alleged that the acquisition of land in Kesare village by MUDA in 1992, with a compensation of Rs 3.81 lakh, saw Parvathi Siddaramaiah refusing to accept the payment. At that time, Siddaramaiah held the position of Finance Minister in Karnataka but reportedly remained silent on the matter.

Further complicating the issue, Karandlaje claimed that even when Siddaramaiah was Deputy Chief Minister in 1998 and later Finance Minister again in 2002, he allegedly did not address the issue when MUDA issued a notification regarding the land.

"In 2021, Parvathi Siddaramaiah sought compensation under a 50-50 basis, citing a 2015 law that mandates 50% of developed sites be returned to individuals on acquired lands. However, this law does not apply to her," Karandlaje asserted.

The Union Minister alleged that despite this legal exemption, pressure was exerted in 2017 by Siddaramaiah for compensation, which ultimately resulted in Parvathi Siddaramaiah receiving 14 sites from the Kesare village land acquisition in 2022, against legal provisions.

"This blatant violation demands accountability. Siddaramaiah himself is implicated as a beneficiary in this matter and should resign," Karandlaje demanded, alleging attempts to suppress the issue.

Furthermore, Minister Karandlaje accused Siddaramaiah of continuously holding the 'Office of Profit', asserting that the situation required urgent investigation and action.

The allegations have sparked widespread debate and criticism, with opposition parties demanding a thorough investigation into the claims. Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah's office has not yet responded to the accusations leveled by the Union Minister.

As the controversy unfolds, political tensions are expected to escalate in Karnataka, with stakeholders and the public closely monitoring developments surrounding the allegations of land acquisition irregularities involving the Chief Minister's family.
