In a significant address to the Rajya Sabha today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided an update on the current situation in Manipur, highlighting the government's efforts to restore normalcy amidst ongoing challenges. The Prime Minister's remarks underscored both progress made and ongoing initiatives aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the northeastern state.

PM Modi began by acknowledging the concerted efforts of the government in tackling the issues plaguing Manipur. "The government is continuously making efforts to normalise the situation in Manipur," he stated. He emphasized that significant strides have been made, with over 11,000 FIRs registered and more than 500 individuals arrested in connection with recent incidents of violence.

Highlighting a positive trend, PM Modi noted, "Incidents of violence are continuously reducing in Manipur." He credited these developments to collaborative efforts between the Central and State governments, engaging with all stakeholders to restore peace and facilitate the reopening of essential services such as schools, colleges, and offices across the state.

Underscoring the commitment of the Union government to support Manipur during its challenges, PM Modi mentioned the extensive involvement of the Union Home Minister in staying in the region for several weeks to oversee operations firsthand. "Central government is extending all cooperation to Manipur to tackle the flood situation," he assured, adding that two teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have already been deployed to assist in relief efforts.

In a stern warning to those seeking to disrupt peace in Manipur, PM Modi asserted, "I warn those who are trying to add fuel to fire will be rejected by Manipur." He reiterated the government's resolve to maintain law and order while fostering a climate conducive to progress and development in the state.

PM Modi also referenced historical governance in Manipur, criticizing the Congress party's record of imposing President's rule in the state multiple times. "Congress had imposed President’s rule in Manipur 10 times," he pointed out, drawing attention to the contrast with the current administration's efforts to empower local governance and uphold democratic principles.

The Prime Minister concluded his address by reaffirming the government's commitment to addressing the multifaceted challenges facing Manipur comprehensively. He expressed optimism for a future marked by stability, prosperity, and inclusive growth for the people of Manipur under the stewardship of both the Central and State governments.
