BJP MP Yogender Chandolia Defends Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, Slams AAP Over ‘Resentment’ Claims

BJP MP Yogender Chandolia dismissed allegations by Delhi AAP President Saurabh Bhardwaj that there is growing resentment among people towards Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

Chandolia said that such claims were baseless and politically motivated. “There is no resentment among people towards Rekha Gupta or the BJP. Saurabh Bhardwaj sees resentment; perhaps he is comparing with Arvind Kejriwal, because when he (Arvind Kejriwal) used to go out on the ground, people would slap him. That was resentment,” Chandolia remarked, drawing a sharp contrast between the public response to Gupta and former CM Kejriwal.

He further asserted that Rekha Gupta’s leadership over the past six months has been clean, transparent, and people-oriented. “Her tenure has been free of corruption. She is working with honesty and dedication, which is why the people of Delhi trust her,” he added.

The BJP MP emphasised that the opposition was deliberately trying to create a false narrative to divert attention from its own failures. He said the AAP, which had once claimed to represent clean governance, is now resorting to misinformation and unfounded allegations against the BJP and its leadership.

Chandolia’s statement comes days after an incident where Rekha Gupta faced a public attack during a Jan Sunvai programme, sparking political blame games in the capital. While the BJP condemned the attack and demanded accountability, AAP leaders claimed it reflected public anger against her.

With Delhi’s political landscape heating up, Chandolia’s comments underline BJP’s effort to project Rekha Gupta as an honest leader in contrast to the controversies surrounding AAP’s leadership.
