BJP MP Tejasvi Surya Accuses Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah in MUDA Scam as Governor Grants Prosecution Permission

The political climate in Karnataka has heated up following Karnataka Governor's decision to grant permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the alleged Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam. BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has intensified the controversy with a series of explosive allegations against Siddaramaiah and his family.

In a press conference held today, Surya laid out a detailed accusation against the Karnataka Chief Minister, alleging a complex web of corruption involving land allotments. "Fourteen prime sites in Mysuru, one of the most upscale areas, were controversially allotted to Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvati," Surya claimed. He further asserted that Siddaramaiah's son, Yathindra, who was both the MLA from Mysuru and a MUDA council member at the time, was present during the decision-making process.

Surya's allegations painted a troubling picture of possible impropriety. "When Siddaramaiah was Deputy CM, the land was earmarked. As Chief Minister, his son-in-law purchased the land through a gift deed and transferred it to his wife. During Siddaramaiah's subsequent term as Chief Minister, his wife sought compensation from MUDA for this land," Surya detailed. He criticized the system, arguing that Yathindra's role in the MUDA council and the allocation of land to his family represented a significant conflict of interest.

Comparing the case to high-profile scandals like the National Herald case and allegations against Robert Vadra, Surya asserted, "This is not merely a matter of political rivalry or a governor versus government issue. It is a serious case of irregularity and corruption."

Surya's remarks come in the wake of the Karnataka Governor's decision, which allows for the criminal prosecution of Siddaramaiah. The BJP has been vocal in its demand for Siddaramaiah’s resignation, arguing that the ongoing investigations, led by agencies reporting to him, cannot be impartial. "For an independent and fair investigation, Siddaramaiah must step down immediately," Surya insisted. "The criminal law has been set into motion, and it is crucial for the Chief Minister to take moral responsibility and resign to ensure a transparent probe."

The allegations have sparked a political firestorm, with the Congress party defending Siddaramaiah and framing the issue as a politically motivated attack. The Karnataka government has yet to respond formally to Surya’s statements, but the developments underscore the escalating tensions and scrutiny surrounding the Chief Minister and his administration.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how this controversy will impact Karnataka's political landscape and the broader national discourse on corruption and governance.
