BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad Slams Opposition for Disrupting PM Modi's Speech in Lok Sabha

New Delhi: Tensions escalated in the Lok Sabha today as BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad sharply criticized the opposition for their disruptive behavior during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address. Prasad's remarks came in response to the uproar caused by opposition members, particularly highlighting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who continuously raised slogans, preventing the Prime Minister from delivering his speech.

Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament, Prasad expressed dismay over the conduct of the opposition during the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha. "This behavior is shameful. We patiently listened to everything Rahul Gandhi had to say, but they did not extend us the same courtesy," Prasad remarked, highlighting the imbalance in parliamentary decorum.

The BJP MP accused the opposition of suppressing the voice of the government and obstructing the democratic process. "Can they not listen to the truth? The resolution passed today is justified, and the nation witnessed how those who claim to uphold democracy and the constitution prevented the Prime Minister from addressing the Parliament," Prasad asserted.

During today's session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi faced continuous disruptions from opposition MPs, particularly those from the Congress party, who raised slogans and staged protests. Despite efforts by the Speaker to restore order, the disruptions persisted, leading to a chaotic atmosphere in the Lok Sabha.

The incident has sparked a heated debate across political circles, with supporters of the government condemning what they perceive as a deliberate attempt to stifle the Prime Minister's speech. Critics, however, argue that such disruptions are a legitimate form of protest within parliamentary norms.

As India prepares for upcoming legislative sessions, the incident underscores the challenges in maintaining parliamentary decorum and ensuring constructive dialogue on crucial national issues. The BJP's stance, as articulated by Ravi Shankar Prasad, underscores its commitment to defending the democratic rights and responsibilities of elected representatives.

The response from the opposition to these accusations is eagerly awaited, as it is expected to shape the ongoing political discourse and parliamentary conduct in the days to come.
