BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj Criticizes INDI Alliance, Cites Recent Incidents of Violence and Silence

In a sharp rebuke against the opposition coalition known as the INDI alliance, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj accused it of enabling corruption and criminal activities while failing to protect women's rights. Addressing a press conference today, Swaraj asserted that the alliance was inherently anti-women and anti-social.

Swaraj's comments came in the wake of recent incidents in West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh that she described as deeply troubling. She pointed to reports from Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, where she claimed TMC (Trinamool Congress) leaders had dishonored women in their own party office. The BJP MP described the alleged incident in Kolkata as "soul-trampling."

Furthering her criticism, Swaraj highlighted a recent case in Uttar Pradesh where, according to her, a leader from the Samajwadi Party (SP) was implicated in the rape of a 15-year-old girl. She lambasted the Congress party for its perceived hypocrisy, noting that while the party frequently champions women's empowerment with slogans like "Ladki hun, lad sakti hun" (I am a girl, I can fight), it remains silent on serious allegations in regions governed by its allies.

Swaraj’s statements reflect growing tensions between the BJP and the INDI alliance, as the political landscape heats up ahead of the upcoming elections. The BJP has repeatedly criticized the opposition coalition for alleged failures in governance and accountability, particularly concerning issues of violence and corruption.

In response, leaders from the INDI alliance and the Congress party have yet to issue a formal statement addressing Swaraj's accusations. The allegations and counter-allegations are expected to intensify as the political climate continues to evolve.
