Amidst opposition protests against the Union Budget 2024-25, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma staunchly defended the budget's provisions, particularly highlighting its focus on youth empowerment and employment opportunities. Sarma's remarks came in response to criticism from the Congress party during a heated debate in Delhi.

"If the youth are benefiting from internships, why is the Congress party angry about it?" questioned Sarma, addressing the opposition's objections. He criticized the Congress for failing to fulfill promises made in the past and praised the BJP-led government for prioritizing youth empowerment in the latest budget.

Sarma also addressed the issue of special packages, noting the Congress party's inconsistency in their demands. "When you demand special packages for Bihar and it's granted, why then criticize its implementation?" he questioned, emphasizing the BJP's commitment to fulfilling electoral promises and fostering development across states.

"This budget marks a revolutionary step with unprecedented emphasis on youth empowerment and employment," Sarma declared, highlighting its potential to transform India's economic landscape. He dismissed the opposition's protests as mere political maneuvering, expressing skepticism about its effectiveness.

The Assam Chief Minister concluded by asserting confidence in the budget's ability to drive socio-economic progress nationwide. "If the Congress wants to play politics, they may, but I doubt it will benefit them," Sarma remarked, underscoring the BJP's determination to deliver on its commitments and steer India towards prosperity.
