Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed concerns regarding the government’s response to the recent crisis in Kerala, stating that early warnings were issued and that the central government has been actively engaged in relief efforts. His comments come amid criticism over the timing and effectiveness of the response to the situation in the southern state.

In his statement, Shah emphasized that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was mobilized promptly. “Early warning was given, which is why on July 23, we sent 9 teams of NDRF, and three more were sent yesterday,” Shah said. He highlighted that the government’s rapid deployment of rescue teams reflects its commitment to addressing the crisis.

Shah also addressed criticisms that the response could have been more timely. “Had the local authorities and others become alert the day the NDRF teams landed, a lot could have been saved,” he noted. Despite these criticisms, Shah underscored the importance of unity during such challenging times.

The Home Minister stressed that the Narendra Modi government remains steadfast in its support for Kerala, regardless of political affiliations. “This is the time to stand with the government and the people of Kerala. Irrespective of party politics, the Narendra Modi government will stand with the people of Kerala,” Shah declared.

His remarks come amid heightened scrutiny of the government’s handling of the disaster and the political implications of the response efforts. Shah’s statement seeks to reassure the public of the central government’s commitment to providing support and addressing the needs of those affected by the crisis.
