Union Budget 2026 Lays Foundation for India’s Future, Says BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal; Dismisses Pakistan Match Boycott

Delhi: BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal on Saturday strongly defended the Union Budget 2026, saying it is designed to lay a solid foundation for the country’s long-term growth and future development.

Responding to criticism of the Budget by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Jaiswal questioned the Congress leader’s understanding of economic concepts. He said critics were misreading the Budget and claimed that key ideas such as nominal GDP and capital expenditure were being misunderstood or ignored. According to the BJP MP, the Budget focuses on capital investment and structural reforms aimed at strengthening India’s economy over the coming years.

“This budget is meant to lay the foundation for the country’s future,” Jaiswal said, asserting that it reflects a long-term vision rather than short-term populism.

Jaiswal also reacted to reports of Pakistan potentially boycotting its match against India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Downplaying the issue, he said such a decision would not matter to India. He questioned the relevance of playing against Pakistan, making remarks about the country’s internal challenges and economic situation.

Referring to statements attributed to Pakistan’s leadership, Jaiswal said that if Pakistan’s cricketers choose not to play, it would make little difference to India. He added that India remains focused on its own progress and priorities, both in sports and national development.

The BJP MP’s remarks come amid continued political debate over the Union Budget 2026 and ongoing uncertainty surrounding sporting ties between India and Pakistan.
