Prime Minister Narendra Modi Kickstarts ‘India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat’

NEW DELHI - In a significant move to bolster India’s technological prowess, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in ‘India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat’ on Tuesday. The event marked the laying of the foundation stone for three state-of-the-art semiconductor facilities, with an investment of approximately Rs 1.25 lakh crore.

The initiative is a part of the government’s ambitious plan to make India a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing, a sector that has gained strategic importance due to its role in various industries, including information technology, telecommunications, and automotive.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of semiconductors in the digital age, stating, “Semiconductors are the heart of modern electronics. From smartphones to aircraft, they are everywhere. With these facilities, we aim to meet our country’s demand and also export to the world.”
