Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address at the ‘International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure 2024: Investing Today for a More Resilient Tomorrow’, held at Bharat Mandapam, praised the impressive growth of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI).

“In the last few years, the growth of the CDRI has been impressive,” said PM Modi. “We have come a long way since 2019, when CDRI was launched. It is now a global coalition of 39 countries and 7 organisations. This is a good sign for the future.”

The CDRI, launched in 2019, has seen significant progress and expansion, now boasting a global coalition that includes 39 countries and 7 organisations. The coalition’s mission is to promote resilience of new and existing infrastructure systems to climate and disaster risks, thereby ensuring sustainable development.

The conference, themed ‘Investing Today for a More Resilient Tomorrow’, brought together global leaders, experts, and stakeholders to discuss and share best practices and innovative approaches towards making infrastructure more resilient to disasters.

PM Modi’s remarks underscore the importance of investing in disaster-resilient infrastructure as a key element of sustainable development. His words serve as a reminder of the progress made and the work still to be done in building a more resilient future.

The conference continues to serve as a platform for dialogue and cooperation in the field of disaster-resilient infrastructure, fostering partnerships and promoting global efforts towards a more resilient tomorrow.
