Speaking at the Italy-India Business, Science and Technology Forum, Union Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized India's principled and strategic approach to international trade, highlighting the country’s long-term vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 under the "Viksit Bharat @ 2047" initiative.

“Trade talks proceed when both sides are sensitive to each other’s concerns and requirements,” Goyal said, stressing that ongoing negotiations with various nations are progressing steadily. “All our trade talks are progressing well, in the spirit of India First.”

On the recent 90-day tariff relief granted by the United States to India, Goyal clarified that India remains firm on not giving in to external pressure. “We never negotiate on gunpoint,” he stated. “Favourable time constraints motivate us for quicker talks, but till the time we are not able to secure the interest of our country and our people, we do not hurry.”

The minister also lauded the Indian startup ecosystem, calling it a source of national pride and a key driver of future trade and innovation. “Indian startups are making us proud in newer and newer areas,” he said. “I see them focusing on new-age technologies and innovation, and I’m very confident that our startup ecosystem will pave the way to foster greater business and trade with almost the entire world.”

Goyal’s remarks come at a time when India is actively deepening trade and investment ties with strategic global partners, including European nations, while positioning itself as a hub for innovation, technology, and manufacturing.
