Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the launch of a new train connecting Dr Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow), the birthplace of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, to New Delhi, calling it a symbolic tribute ahead of Ambedkar Jayanti.

Speaking on Saturday, Vaishnaw stated, “Tomorrow is Ambedkar Jayanti… Today, we have flagged off a train from his birthplace to Delhi. It will make the connectivity between Ambedkar Nagar and Delhi easier.” He noted that the train will travel via Ujjain, a route of cultural and religious significance.

Highlighting the broader implications of the new service, Vaishnaw added, “In 2028, the Mahakumbh will be organised in Ujjain. So, this step can be considered as the initiation of the preparations for Mahakumbh 2028.”

The launch of this train aligns with the Centre’s ongoing efforts to boost infrastructure while also honoring key historical and spiritual landmarks. The improved connectivity is expected to benefit pilgrims, tourists, and daily commuters alike, especially as Ujjain prepares to host the massive religious congregation in 2028.
