Delhi: Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Friday announced that the nomination of C.P. Radhakrishnan as the NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate will be officially filed on August 20 at 11 am.

Rijiju added that the entire process will take place in the presence of senior leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all NDA leaders will participate in the nomination filing process,” he said, emphasizing the collective strength and unity of the alliance.

C.P. Radhakrishnan, a veteran BJP leader from Tamil Nadu, has been a prominent figure in national politics and is currently serving as the Governor of Jharkhand. Known for his organizational capabilities and long-standing association with the BJP, his nomination reflects the NDA’s confidence in his experience and leadership qualities.

The Vice Presidential election, scheduled to be held later this month, is expected to be a significant political event as the NDA seeks to consolidate its position in the country’s top constitutional offices. The role of the Vice President, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, is crucial in maintaining the smooth functioning of parliamentary proceedings.

With the NDA’s numerical strength in Parliament, political observers suggest that Radhakrishnan’s election is likely to be a smooth affair, barring any unexpected contest from the opposition.

The nomination filing on August 20 will mark the formal beginning of the election process, setting the stage for yet another key constitutional appointment under the Modi-led government.
