Murshidabad Violence: BJP’s Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Slams TMC Government for 'Protecting Looters'

  • April 15, 2025, 10:47 p.m.

In the wake of the recent violence in Murshidabad, senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal, accusing it of shielding wrongdoers and marginalizing the majority population.

Commenting on the situation, Naqvi said, “They (TMC government) don’t want the 30%, but the other 70% of the population to escape… This is unacceptable for any state or country.”

He further alleged that the West Bengal government has become “a hostage of those who orchestrate criminal conspiracies,” and is actively “promoting and protecting such people instead of punishing them.”

“They stand as the supporters of those looting the system, which will give the looters promotion and protection,” Naqvi added, referring to what he described as a pattern of lawlessness and selective governance in the state.

The Murshidabad violence, which reportedly involved communal clashes and attacks on political workers, has reignited a political storm, with the BJP holding the TMC accountable for deteriorating law and order, while the TMC maintains that opposition parties are inciting unrest for electoral gain.

Tensions remain high as central forces and state authorities continue to assess and manage the situation on the ground.
