Andaman Gang Rape Case

Police have already arrested former Andaman and Nicobar Islands chief secretary Jitendra Narain in connection with the alleged gangrape case.

On October 1, 2022, a 21-year-old woman filed a sexual assault case at the police station in Aberdeen, Andaman and Nicobar. Allegations were levelled against the then Chief Secretary Jitender Narain and his other associates, Sandeep aka Rinku (the hotel owner) and Rishi, the then Labour Commissioner of Andaman.

The woman alleged that she was lured to the chief secretary's home by promising a government job and then raped by top officials.

Police received a tip-off regarding the absconding accused, following which a team was constituted to nab him.

The team reached Karnal and nabbed Sandeep, who was trying to escape to Bhubaneshwar in a private cab.
