Amid growing opposition demands for a debate on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Parliament, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Thursday clarified the government's stance. Speaking to reporters, Rijiju stated, "The Government is ready to discuss any issue that comes up as per the rules."

He further explained that the Special Intensive Revision is a procedural exercise carried out by the Election Commission, and whether such matters can be debated in the House depends on established parliamentary rules. "Whether the Election Commission's executive orders, functioning, or administrative work can be discussed in Parliament has to be decided by the rules and the Speaker (in Lok Sabha) or the Chair (in Rajya Sabha)," Rijiju added.

The opposition has been demanding a detailed discussion on the SIR process, citing concerns over transparency and voter list updates. However, the government maintains that any such debate must align with procedural norms and constitutional boundaries.
