ED Files Prosecution Complaint Against Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi in National Herald Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a prosecution complaint in the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi against senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and others in connection with the alleged money laundering case linked to the now-defunct National Herald newspaper.

The case, which has been under investigation for several years, centers around accusations of financial irregularities and alleged misuse of party funds in the acquisition and operations of Associated Journals Limited (AJL), the publisher of National Herald.

Reacting to the development, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “This is a technical matter. The Congress party should keep in mind that this issue started in 2012, and the Delhi High Court began looking into it in October 2013 through a PIL. The case was registered when PM Modi’s government had not even come. Therefore, there is no basis for the Congress party to do politics on this.”

The Congress party has repeatedly alleged political vendetta, claiming the case is being used to target opposition leaders. However, BJP leaders maintain that the judicial process has been independent and predates the Modi government.

The Rouse Avenue Court is expected to take cognizance of the complaint in the coming days.
