Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday announced that the Delhi government will officially celebrate International Yoga Day at 11 prominent locations across the city, marking the first large-scale government-led Yoga event in the capital.

Addressing the media, CM Gupta said, “For the first time, the government is organising big events for Yoga Day on a large scale in Delhi, with around 20,000 participants expected across all venues.” She added that public enthusiasm has been overwhelming, stating, “I’ve received over 300 invites from people across Delhi to join their local Yoga Day celebrations.”

Taking a dig at the previous AAP-led administration, Gupta remarked, “The earlier government had a problem with Yoga because they saw Modi Ji’s face in it. That’s why they never officially organised Yoga programs.”

To add a cultural flavor to the celebrations, the CM also revealed that a special Yoga anthem for Delhi has been composed and sung by renowned music director Amit Trivedi.

The government aims to use the occasion not just to promote Yoga as a physical practice, but also as a way to foster wellness, unity, and a healthier lifestyle among Delhi’s citizens.
