Delhi BJP Chief Raises Alarm Over Water Shortage and ‘Tanker Mafia’

NEW DELHI - Virendraa Sachdeva, the Delhi BJP Chief, has lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police over the escalating water shortage in the national capital. He has also raised concerns about the growing influence of the ‘tanker mafia’ in the city.

In his complaint, Sachdeva stated, “Today, we have submitted evidence to Delhi Police on this.” He further alleged that the ‘tanker mafia’ has gained strength in Delhi ever since Arvind Kejriwal assumed power.

The BJP leader’s complaint comes amid rising temperatures in the city, leading to an increased demand for water. The issue of water scarcity has been a long-standing problem in Delhi, with numerous areas in the city facing acute water shortage, especially during the summer months.

Sachdeva’s allegations about the ‘tanker mafia’ refer to the illegal water supply racket that has reportedly been thriving in the city. These illegal operators allegedly hoard water and sell it at exorbitant prices to residents in areas where water supply is scarce.

The Delhi BJP Chief’s move to involve the police in this matter indicates the seriousness of the issue. It remains to be seen how the Delhi Police and the Kejriwal-led government will respond to these allegations.

This development has once again brought the issue of water management in Delhi to the forefront. It underscores the need for effective policies and strict enforcement to ensure equitable distribution of water and to curb illegal activities related to water supply.

As the city braces for another hot summer, the residents of Delhi will be hoping for swift action from the authorities to address the water shortage and to clamp down on the ‘tanker mafia’.
