BJP Responds Strongly to Congress President Kharge's Statement on Electoral Results

The political climate in India heated up following Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge's recent comments regarding the electoral success of the BJP. BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla vehemently countered Kharge’s remarks, emphasizing the party's electoral victories and questioning the Congress's stance.

Poonawalla stated, “Crores of people have voted for BJP in 2014, 2019, and now in 2024. This is an insult to the people's wisdom, but Congress has made it a habit of undermining the electorate.” His comments came in response to Kharge's criticism of the BJP's governance and electoral strategies.

Highlighting the BJP's robust electoral record, Poonawalla accused Congress of fostering a culture of doubt surrounding election results. “They have doubted the results of the EVM in Haryana, blaming the EVM, the Election Commission, and even the people,” he said. He also condemned Kharge's language, calling it derogatory towards the electorate, claiming that the Congress leader referred to the public as “Rakshasi” and accused them of electing “terrorists.”

Poonawalla further asserted that the Congress party has a history of derogatory language toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the OBC community. “This shows the character and the DNA of Congress,” he remarked, criticizing the party for what he described as its anti-Dalit stance. He accused Congress of misusing reservations meant for SC/ST communities, claiming they were allocated to Muslims from institutions like Jamia and AMU.

The back-and-forth between the BJP and Congress underscores the growing tensions as the nation approaches the 2024 elections, with both parties intensifying their rhetoric in a bid to sway public opinion. Poonawalla's statements reflect the BJP's strategy of positioning itself as a party of the people against what it characterizes as Congress's elitist and divisive politics.
