BJP MP Ravi Kishan Calls Holi and 'Jumma' Controversy a Political Drama Ahead of Bihar Elections

BJP MP Ravi Kishan has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the coinciding of Holi celebrations with Jumma prayers, dismissing the debate as a political stunt. Kishan accused the opposition of using the issue to create unrest ahead of the upcoming Bihar elections.

"This is not the first Holi being celebrated in the country," Kishan stated, emphasizing that such overlaps have occurred before without causing any major disruptions. "This is all a drama for the upcoming Bihar elections because people (the Opposition) are panicking because Nitish Kumar is coming into power again."

Kishan’s comments came in the wake of a statement from Darbhanga Mayor Anjum Ara, which had sparked outrage among various political leaders and sections of the public. The controversy centered on the potential clash of religious observances, with Holi, a major Hindu festival, falling on the same day as Jumma, the Muslim Friday prayers.

The BJP MP dismissed the concerns as politically motivated, accusing the opposition of exploiting the situation to stir communal tension in Bihar. Kishan’s remarks also suggested that the opposition is growing increasingly uneasy with the political landscape in Bihar, where Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s return to power is seen as imminent.

The statement has added fuel to an already heated debate about the intersection of politics and religion in India, particularly in the lead-up to state elections. The ongoing controversy underscores the deepening polarization as political leaders across the spectrum weigh in on issues of faith, festivity, and community.
