BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal raised serious concerns about the growing dominance of quick commerce and e-commerce platforms, calling it a threat to "retail democracy" during the National Conclave on the Cruel Face of Quick Commerce & E-Commerce held in the capital.

Speaking to the media, Khandelwal said, “Traders from different states participated in the conference, and the way Quick Commerce and e-commerce have conspired to capture the retail democracy, we have exposed that conspiracy in the conference.”

He announced that a resolution was unanimously passed at the conclave, along with nine key recommendations aimed at safeguarding the interests of traditional retailers and small businesses. Khandelwal added, “I will meet Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Prahlad Joshi and apprise them of the concerns of the traders and urge them to take action on it.”

The conclave, attended by trade representatives from across the country, reflected rising unease over the aggressive expansion of online platforms, which traders allege are undercutting prices and flouting regulations to dominate the retail market. The event concluded with a call for greater government oversight and stronger regulatory frameworks to ensure fair competition in the sector.
