BJP Member of Parliament (MP) Manoj Tiwari has expressed his strong support for the passing of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024, calling it a significant step forward for India and a victory for the Constitution. Speaking to the media, Tiwari emphasized that the bill’s passage is a moment of joy for every Indian, asserting that it ensures property rights and addresses critical concerns regarding the functioning of Waqf institutions.

“The passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill is a matter of joy for every Indian,” Tiwari said, underscoring the bill's importance in safeguarding individual rights. He added, “Who in this country would suddenly want an institution to claim their property as its own? This country has understood that Waqf and Waqf Board are different, and this distinction will protect the property rights of individuals.”

Tiwari’s remarks highlight the core objective of the bill, which aims to regulate and streamline the management of Waqf properties and prevent misuse or encroachment. The bill seeks to clarify the roles and responsibilities of the Waqf Board and ensure that the administration of Waqf assets remains transparent and in line with constitutional principles.

“The country will run according to the Constitution, and Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s Constitution is equal for all,” Tiwari declared, reinforcing the BJP’s commitment to constitutional values. His comments reflect the party’s stance that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill aligns with the constitutional framework of India and is in the best interest of the nation as a whole.

The Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 has sparked discussions across political and religious spheres, with supporters lauding it as a necessary reform, while critics argue that it could lead to overreach in the administration of Waqf properties. However, Tiwari’s statements reflect the government’s position that the bill is a positive step towards ensuring fairness and transparency, in line with the principles of the Indian Constitution.

The passing of the bill marks a key moment in the ongoing discussions on religious institutions, property rights, and governance, and its implementation is expected to have long-term implications for the management of Waqf properties across the country.
