BJP MP and Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) Chairman Jagadambika Pal has emphasized the thorough consultation process undertaken before finalizing the Waqf Amendment Bill. He stated that instead of passing the bill directly, the government ensured a detailed review by referring it to the JPC for further scrutiny.

"Instead of passing a law directly, the government requested the Speaker to pass it to the JPC. We spoke to all minority organizations for six months," Pal said, highlighting the inclusive approach taken by the committee.

He further noted that all concerns raised by various minority organizations were carefully considered before finalizing the report. "All the points raised by them were considered, and we gave our 428-page report for a better law," he added.

The Waqf Amendment Bill aims to address key concerns related to the administration and management of Waqf properties in India. Pal assured that the amendments were designed to improve transparency and efficiency while respecting the purpose of Waqf institutions. "This will fulfill the purpose of Waqf," he stated.

With the bill now moving forward, discussions on its implications continue, with both supporters and critics closely examining its provisions. The government maintains that the amendments will strengthen Waqf governance, while opposition voices have raised concerns about potential impacts on minority rights.

The final decision on the bill’s passage will be keenly watched as the debate unfolds in Parliament.
