Delhi: In a press conference addressing the long-standing Bofors scandal, BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia has called for the resignation of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi until they fully disclose their connections with the Quattrocchi family. Bhatia emphasized that this is the least they can do for the people of India in light of new revelations related to the Bofors case.

Bhatia stated, "Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should resign from their position and post till they make a full disclosure of their relationship with the Quattrocchi family. This is the least they can do for the citizenry of the country." His remarks are in reference to the ongoing controversy surrounding the Bofors deal, which has implicated various political figures over the years.

The BJP leader also pointed to statements made by the Ambassador of India to Italy between 1984-1988, who claimed that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was the "kingpin facilitator" in the deal and had close relations with businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi. Bhatia further highlighted that the then Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) had stated that the evaluation of the competing guns in the Bofors deal was "seriously flawed."

The Bofors scandal, which dates back to the 1980s, remains a contentious issue in Indian politics, with accusations of corruption and favoritism in the defense deal. Bhatia's comments have once again brought the issue into the spotlight, urging the Gandhis to clarify their roles and relationships with the key figures involved in the scandal.
