Virat Kohli is unlikely to make a comeback: Fans are concerned over an old prediction of an India star made by an ex-Pak bowler.

Virat Kohli is the talk of the town at the moment, but not for the right reasons. The former India and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain is going through a torrid run of form in the Indian Premier League (IPL), making fans wonder what exactly is wrong with him.

It's been more than two years since Kohli last scored a hundred. In fact, the 33-year-old has played over 100 professional matches without touching the 3-digit figure. As fans, pundits, teammates, and former cricketers continue to wonder what's behind this rough patch in Kohli's career, a prediction by former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Asif is being talked about a lot.

"Kohli is a bottom-hand player. He is doing well because of his fitness, and it is supporting him. The moment he faces a decline, I don't think Kohli can make a comeback, "Asif had said while speaking on CoverDriveCricket's YouTube channel last year.

Be it Test cricket, ODIs or T20Is, Kohli has only looked like a shade of himself over the last two years or so. His rankings, strike-rate, and average across formats have taken a big hit over this period.

Further expressing his analysis of Kohli, Asif said: "People say Kohli is better than Tendulkar. I say no. Virat does not even come close to Sachin. This is my opinion. The way Sachin played was all about having the upper hand, and very few people know about this technique. Be it coaches or any player, Sachin was so fluent with his cover drives, on drive pulls and cuts. No doubt Kohli has strokes as well, but his is all bottom hand. "

After Kohli quit India's T20I and Test captaincy and was removed as ODI skipper, suggestions were made that he could rediscover some of his old form as a batter, considering the leadership pressure was no longer on his head. But, it's fair to say that it hasn't been the case so far.
