Union Minister Piyush Goyal has announced that India’s relationship with Singapore has been elevated to a "strategic partnership" following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit. Speaking to the media, Goyal detailed several significant initiatives that were agreed upon during the visit, including advancements in new-age technologies, the semiconductor mission, and skill development in education.

A key development is the opening of an Invest India office in Singapore, designed to facilitate investments and partnerships in India. Goyal explained that this office will serve as a single-window for investors interested in modern technologies and industries, and is set to expand its role to support the ASEAN region in the future.

“This is a wonderful, new initiative that marks a significant milestone in our bilateral relations,” Goyal stated, emphasizing the importance of the new office in bolstering economic ties and technological collaboration between the two countries.

On global trade issues, Goyal addressed concerns about ongoing conflicts affecting international trade. He echoed Prime Minister Modi’s call for peace, diplomacy, and dialogue to resolve such conflicts. Goyal pointed out that recent declines in exports were primarily due to reduced volumes of petroleum products, with no significant decrease in non-petroleum and non-gem and jewellery exports. He noted growth in core domestically-produced goods and expressed a desire to boost petroleum exports moving forward.

Goyal's remarks reflect a broader strategy to strengthen international partnerships and address global trade challenges through diplomatic efforts and economic collaboration.
