The Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) marked its first Foundation Day with a significant announcement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who unveiled a new nationwide awareness campaign aimed at enhancing public knowledge about cybercrime prevention.

Starting from today, Shah revealed, I4C will launch an extensive awareness campaign designed to educate citizens about the risks of cybercrime and how to protect themselves. "From 10th September onwards, I4C is starting a people awareness campaign across the country," Shah announced during the celebrations. "Through more than 72 television channels, 190 FM radio stations, and various other platforms, we will strive to popularize this campaign."

The campaign, which aims to reach a broad audience across multiple media channels, is a crucial step in I4C's efforts to address the growing challenge of cybercrime in India. Shah emphasized the importance of public awareness in combating digital threats, stating, "This campaign won't be successful unless and until the victims know how to escape and protect themselves from cyber threats."

The initiative will utilize a variety of media platforms to ensure that information reaches diverse segments of the population. By leveraging television, radio, and digital media, I4C hopes to create a comprehensive outreach program that provides practical advice and resources for individuals and businesses alike.

Shah's announcement underscores the government's commitment to strengthening cybersecurity and preventing cybercrimes, which have become increasingly prevalent in the digital age. The awareness campaign will include tips on identifying potential threats, safeguarding personal information, and responding effectively to cyber incidents.

The Foundation Day event also highlighted I4C's accomplishments over its first year, including its role in issuing over 600 advisories and blocking numerous malicious online entities. The new campaign represents a proactive effort to complement these achievements by empowering the public with knowledge and tools to enhance their digital safety.

As India continues to navigate the complexities of a rapidly evolving digital landscape, the success of this awareness campaign will be closely watched. The government’s focus on educating citizens and raising awareness reflects a broader strategy to build a resilient digital infrastructure and foster a safer online environment for all.
