In a significant revelation amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi has raised concerns over Pakistan’s strategic misuse of international air routes. According to her, Pakistan attempted to mask its military activities by operating in close proximity to civilian aircraft departing from Lahore.

Speaking to media, Colonel Qureshi stated, "It is a matter of concern that taking the cover of civilian aircraft taking off from Lahore, Pakistan misused international air routes. These tactics were aimed at concealing their movements and avoiding early detection by Indian surveillance systems."

She highlighted the critical role played by India’s air defence systems in exercising restraint and precision under such deceptive conditions. "Our systems were compelled to act with great patience to ensure the safety of civilian passengers while simultaneously maintaining national security," she said.

Defence analysts note that this tactic could have led to a potential international crisis if not handled with extreme care. The Indian armed forces, particularly the air defence units, have been lauded for their measured response during this sensitive situation.

Colonel Qureshi’s remarks come at a time when tensions are already heightened following Operation Sindoor and the recent escalation in cross-border hostilities. Her warning serves as a reminder of the evolving and unconventional tactics being employed in modern hybrid warfare, where civilian domains are increasingly being manipulated for strategic military advantage.

The government has not yet formally responded, but sources indicate that India may raise the issue in relevant international forums.
